Enham Alamein Scoops Prize in Village of the Year Award

Last night, I was delighted to attended the Hampshire Association of Local Councils Village of the Year Awards sponsored by Fuller's Brewery. As the overall winner in 2015 the event was held in the Enham Trust. I'm proud to say that 2016 proved to be just as fruitful a year for Enham Alamein as the village scooped a Highly Commended in the Village of the Year category. The highlight of the night though was Enham Trust picking up 1st place in the Excellence in Localism category for their visionary work. Well done to everyone in Enham Alamein!

Andover Festival of Motoring Packs the High Street

It was great to see the High Street so busy earlier today for the fabulous Andover Festival of Motoring. Whilst I couldn't quite squeeze into the racing car from Thruxton, it was brilliant to see so many different supercars, vintage vehicles and motorcycles on display. Congratulations to the Andover Town Centre Partnership - ATCP and Andover Town Council which teamed up with Hampshire Hot Rides to organise the event.

George Yard Archway Opens

The first Andover arch at George Yard, designed to signpost shoppers to businesses located off the High Street was opened this week by the Mayor of Test Valley, Cllr Karen Hamilton. Designed by renowned artist Peter Clutterbuck, the new archway looks fantastic, bringing much needed signage for local businesses. The idea to enhance signage for the shops along the seven lanes off the High Street came as a result of the Andover High Street Summit to improve footfall in the Town Centre. Archways for the remaining six walkways including Union Street, Waterloo Court, Shaw's Walk, Globe Yard,...

Blue Heritage Plaque to Commemorate Reg Presley and The Troggs

A blue Heritage Foundation plaque dedicated to 'Mr Andover', Reg Presley was unveiled by his widow, Brenda this afternoon. The plaque placed above Coral bookmakers in Andover High Street marks the venue where The Troggs practiced and performed during the 1960's. Former and current members of the band were in attendance in to celebrate the occasion.
