El Alamein Commemoration Day

Today marks the 74th anniversary of the Battle of El Alamein, the key turning point in the Second World War. This afternoon the village of Enham Alamein came together, this year in St Mary's church, to celebrate the victory at Alamein, and remember those who died in the service of mankind. Many of the injured from that battle were brought back to Enham to undergo their recovery. In recognition of their liberation from National Socialism, Egypt gifted Enham £225,000 to help care for disabled servicemen. To thank the Egyptian's for their kind gesture the name 'Alamein' was added to the...

Andover Vision - Your Ambition for the Future of the Town

Yesterday evening, I presented to the Andover Town Council on the new Andover Vision. As chairman of the project I gave an update on progress since we launched in April - with the Town Council involved from the outset. During that time we have spoken to over 1,000 people about the ideas that have come out of the 6 working groups on raising aspirations; business; health; green; vibrant communities and the town centre. Two of the consistent themes that have come up time and time again is how we can make the most of the river as it runs through the town centre and more community health based...

Pride of Alamein at Andover Awards Ceremony

The praises of the unsung heroes of our local community were well and truly sung last night at the 10th annual Pride of Andover Awards. It was a truly special evening with over 200 people coming together to celebrate the herculean efforts of the people that live among us, who do so much for our community. It was a real privilege to attend. Congratulations to all the winners and a special mention to two superstars of Alamein Ward, who picked up top awards last night. Janet Loader was the overall winner of the Citizenship Award for her 48 years volunteering for St John's Ambulance, work for...

North West Hampshire hit Witney

North West Hampshire hit Witney earlier today, joining the campaign to get Robert Courts elected as the new Member of Parliament.  The by-election follows the resignation, as an MP, of former Prime Minister, David Cameron. A bustling Conservative campaign centre send us on our way to Carterton, where we enjoyed several pleasant hours delivering Robert's latest leaflet and chatting to local residents.

Andover Vision Unveils new Ping Pong Tables for the Town

As Boris Johnson once said, ping pong was invented on the dining tables of England! Today table tennis is coming home, as Andover is now the proud owner of two brand new tables after residents asked for more outdoor sports facilities in the town. Andover Vision has installed the new tables in the small park by Town Mills and on the area of grass near the entrance to Andover Leisure Centre. Bats and balls are provided free of charge. The suggestion to install outdoor table tennis tables and several other projects were put to a public vote at a series of community events over the summer, with...

Enham Alamein Scoops Prize in Village of the Year Award

Last night, I was delighted to attended the Hampshire Association of Local Councils Village of the Year Awards sponsored by Fuller's Brewery. As the overall winner in 2015 the event was held in the Enham Trust. I'm proud to say that 2016 proved to be just as fruitful a year for Enham Alamein as the village scooped a Highly Commended in the Village of the Year category. The highlight of the night though was Enham Trust picking up 1st place in the Excellence in Localism category for their visionary work. Well done to everyone in Enham Alamein!

Andover Festival of Motoring Packs the High Street

It was great to see the High Street so busy earlier today for the fabulous Andover Festival of Motoring. Whilst I couldn't quite squeeze into the racing car from Thruxton, it was brilliant to see so many different supercars, vintage vehicles and motorcycles on display. Congratulations to the Andover Town Centre Partnership - ATCP and Andover Town Council which teamed up with Hampshire Hot Rides to organise the event.

Thank you for visiting my website. It is an honour and a privilege to represent the people of Alamein Ward on Test Valley Borough Council. I keep this website updated with news of my various activities as an Andover Conservative Councillor.
