Councillor Community Grant for Free Family Fridays

My Alamein Ward colleagues, Tracey Preston and Alex Brook today presented an Alamein Ward Councillors Community Grant for £1,000 to St Paul's Church and Community Centre. for the Free Family Fridays initiative they are putting on over the summer holiday. Free Family Fridays enables local families to take part in free sports and educational activities throughout August. Last year over 600 people attended over the 5 week period and this year, with our support, the two hour sessions have been extended to four hours allowing for many more hours of fun.

Young People to be Consulted on Future of Andover

As part of the new Andover Vision, a consultation session with young people aged between 14 - 18 will take place at Andover Leisure Centre on Wednesday 24th August. The session will include a free go on the climbing wall as well as a wide range of other games and activities. The Andover Vision project is looking at what Andover needs to make it a great place to live, work and socialise over the next 10 to 20 years. Blue Heritage Plaque to Commemorate Reg Presley and The Troggs

A blue Heritage Foundation plaque dedicated to 'Mr Andover', Reg Presley was unveiled by his widow, Brenda this afternoon. The plaque placed above Coral bookmakers in Andover High Street marks the venue where The Troggs practiced and performed during the 1960's. Former and current members of the band were in attendance in to celebrate the occasion. Competition Winning Designs Feature on Test Valley Dustcart

The winners of Test Valley Borough Council's Recycling Stars competition to design a poster for our waste collection vehicleshave been announced. Lily Jones from Endeavour Primary School inAugusta Park submitted the winning design for the north of the borough, while Poppy Evans of North Baddesley Junior School, was judged best in the south. The Mayor of Test Valley's Civic Service

It was a pleasure to attend the Mayor of Test Valley Borough Council, CllrKaren Hamilton's Civic Service in Andover BaptistChurch today. The Civic Service is an important event on the Mayoral calendar and this afternoon we were treated to a plethora of musical talent from the For the Love of Music Choir, soloist, Georgia Day, Saxophone musician, Alistair Barahmeh and the Vigo Junior school Choir. Town Centre Archways Move a Step Closer

Plans to install new arches on Andover High Street moved a step closer last week as the Council carried out a trial fitting of the George Yard arch. The stylish new entrance, designed by artist, Peter Clutterbuck, will be the first of several wrought iron structures designed to draw attention to the businesses located along the small streets off the High Street. The trial fitting was a success and once the structure has been galvanised and painted the artist will be able to fit it properly. Greenwich Way Development Given Planning Go-ahead

At a meeting of the Northern Area Planning Committee this evening permission was granted for two large industrial buildings at Greenwich Way just north of the Enham Arch, on the site which was previously occupied by Integra Neurosciences. Back in March, I led the charge to persuade the planning committee to vote for refusal.
